This is the second half of my Day Two entry for the 42Below Vodka Cocktail World Cup. In the first part of the day we had a lecture and went on speedboats. Then it was time for the second competition.
We loaded up buses and headed to a groovy hunting lodge-esque event space for the evening, which had a rock and roll party theme (and a box of costumes to chose from as you'll see in the pictures.) The challenge was for bartenders to make punch. I was a judge for this round of the contest, along with two others. The range of punches were amazing- an absinthe/celery punch, a boozy old-world punch served in a passionfruit shell, fruity punches, a couple of smoky punches, and bubbly champagne punches.
Team USA won this round, so hooray for them. Then the party started with a rather fun rock and roll cover band that got many people dancing.
After the party we headed into downtown Queenstown and hit the bar Debajo, which was full almost entirely of our group but seemed to have a great feel anyway and a great bass-heavy electro dance music soundtrack. I stayed for a good amount of time but felt it was time to sleep,,,
