At the Iron Mixologist competition that I helped judge at the WSWA convention in Orlando last month, the most memorable cocktail of the day was created by Caterina Miltenberger, who works for Glazer's. The category was dessert drinks and the secret ingredient was mango.
Miltenberger said her inspiration was mango sticky rice (mango and coconut), the Batida (an alcoholic Brazilian milkshake of sorts that often contains coconut and/or fresh fruit), creme brulee (imitated with Maker's Mark bourbon and vanilla in a syrup), and flan (caramel vodka). It sounds like it would be entirely too much of everything, but it was a surprisingly delicious mix of desserts.
Her final recipe is in my latest post on FineCooking.com.
