During Portland Cocktail Week, Mindy Kucan (now of Portland's Hale Pele) was making a version of a Rye Buck that I thought was very tasty, so I asked her for the recipe.
A buck, as you might know, is any spirit plus ginger beer and a squeeze of citrus.
To the standard formula she added BG Reynold's Don's Mix, which is a syrup of grapefruit and cinnamon. I remember it being spicy and refreshing to boot.
Rye Buck a la Mindy Kucan
1.5 oz Knob Creek Rye
.75 oz lime juice
.5 oz BG Reynolds Don's Mix
1.5 oz Ginger BeerShake and strain into collins glass. Top with Ginger Beer and garnish with a lime wedge studded with 3 cloves.
