It's a relatively quiet month here at New Booze, most likely because everyone was busy at Tales of the Cocktail. For new releases (and in a couple cases new-to-me releases instead) include 2 whiskies, 3 rums, and a liqueur.

In pot-still distillation we always talk about the cuts: the heads and tails that are discarded (or recycled), and the hearts cut that become the spirit that ends up in the bottle. But some distillers make a cut between the heart and the tails called the "seconds."
In today's edition of New Booze, we find new vermouths, vodka, flavored gin, flavored vodka, flavored rum, a couple of amari, a smokeless mezcal, a bottled Old Fashioned, and a ton of new scotch, rye, and bourbon.
We go through a lot of bottles in the beverage industry, and most of them go into the recycling bin or worse, the trash. However a few companies have designed bottles specifically to keep some of the glass out of the trash can for at least one more use.
