New Fall Cocktail Menus at Clock Bar and Bourbon & Branch and Rickhouse and Presidio Social Club
September 24, 2010
So many new drinks, so little time: Clock Bar, Bourbon & Branch, Rickhouse, and Presidio Social Club launched new cocktails for fall in the past week. All have a ton of good-looking drinks.
Clock Bar
General Manager Phillip Barcio sent me some highlights:
"We are proud to be using some amazing local urban honey from Liz Murray of Sweet Thieves, from her hive on the roof of her house in Haight Ashbury. Drinkwell made a delicious lacto-fermented apple soda for us this season. It's in our Autumn Fizz. We have a cherry reduction and fresh pears from Frog Hollow Farm, heirloom tomato salt from Eatwell Farm, and Tommy came up with a killer home-made pumpkin spice syrup for "The Smashing Pumpkin.""

With that being said, Joel will be leaving Bourbon and Branch in the capable and trustworthy hands of Ian Scalzo and Jayson Wilde as the respective General Manager and Bar Manger. "Fall Menu

Presidio Social ClubBRAZILLIANAIRE #2 11
Cachaca, Sloe Gin, R&W Apricot, Lime
Juice, Grenadine, Simple, Sparkling Wine
Much like bossa nova, the Brazillianaire is a modern interpretation of a classic. The cachaca plays the underlying rhythm while the flavors of apricot and sloe gin complete the ensemble. (Trevor Easter)BONITA APPLEBUM 9
White Rum, Cognac, Yellow Chartreuse,
Lime Juice, Apple Butter, Simple, Cinnamon
A cocktail with curves; the luscious apple butter supports the spice top notes while the rich cognac and sweet cane round out the bottom. (Jessica Tanaka)SUNSET SWIZZLE 9
Beefeater Summer Gin, St. Germaine,
Lime Juice, Pineapple Gum, Aperol
A tip of the hat to a time in drinking history rarely referenced by today’s enthusiast, lest they be thrown to the wolves. It’s a sunny, summer day in the city and come sunrise we’ll we working but come sunset, we’ll be drinking. (Joe Alessandroni)SMOKIN’ SWIZZLE 12
Old Tom Gin, Bonal Quinquina, Orange
Juice, Lemon Juice, Islay Scotch
While cool and refreshing like a swim at the beach, it’s sweet and smoky, like a kiss from Grandma.
(The Late Owen Westman)THE REAL THING 9
Amaro Nonino, Averna, Lemon Juice, Maple
Syrup, Simple, Egg White, Mole Bitters
Nestled cozily between bitter and sweet, you’ll find the Real Thing, a tipple worth a second sip.
(John Ottman)FLORADORA 9
Gin, Lime Juice, Raspberry Syrup,
Ginger Ale
Perfect summer simplicity, ironically undressed. The Floradora is every bit as seductive as it sounds. Sit back and savor the beautifully blended results.WESTERN EDITION 9
El Tesoro Tequila, Campari, Dolin Blanc
Vermouth, Lime Juice, Pinch Salt
A cocktail Clint Eastwood would be proud of: the tequila is soft-spoken and laconic like the Man with No Name while the Campari packs a punch like a slug from “Dirty” Harry Callahan’s .44 Magnum.
(Trevor Easter)TROPIC THUNDER 9
Pisco, Lime, Crème of Coconut, Ginger,
Angostura Bitters
As the cool weather begins to set in, daydreams of warm, sunny beaches fill our minds. This libation brings you one step closer to that reality. (Dan Stahl)
