Germany, Ensslin, Aviation, and Blue Cocktails
October 19, 2010
My latest post on FineCooking.com is up. It's typical of my thought process: I was going to write about my time in Germany and ended up talking about a German bartender who wrote an American cocktail book in which the Aviation cocktail was first mentioned and later forgotten.
(I took this picture- not bad for me!)
Aviation you say? Now you've got my attention. Nice little write up, but I feel guilty talking about them because it would break my heart if the Aviation became the next Cosmopolitan. Don't laugh! It could happen.

Ok so lets clarify this. I have seen 3 or 4 different recipes of the Aviation without creme de violette, most notably Mr. Bostons. Is this a more modern incarnation of the cocktail??

Did you read the story?

Sorry for the stupid question, I glanced throught the story rather quickly. Now after carefully reading it my question has been answered. Thanks.

The Aviation sounds great, I have to admit I haven't experimented with creme de violette before. I'm adding it to my shopping list so I can try this recipe, thanks! And yes, well done with the picture!
