Winter Cocktail Menus in San Francisco

Below are new menus for cocktail bars in San Francisco.

(New menu goes live Friday, Dec 17.)

Bar Manager Trevor Easter says of his new menu, " Living in California (specifically coastal towns) I'm not familiar with actual extreme season changes.  So I felt it wasn't fair to the rest of the country that actually has snow and blazing heat to act like we are suffering through the same changes.

"I specifically wanted to stick to drinks that either contain familiar flavors like baking spices that tend to exist in our meals around the holidays, and or drinks that can cool you down on a warm California winter day."

Requiem For A Drink            Dec/Jan/Feb

Wall St.                    9
Bourbon, Punt e Mes, Walnut Liquer, Maraschino Liqueur, Winter Bitters

The Kidnap Cocktail                    10
Diplimatico Rum, Mezcal, Fresh Lime Juice, Jamaican Navy Strength Rum, Turbinado Sugar
We have your cocktail. Leave the money on the bar and wait to be contacted by one of our agents. If we see any cops, the deal is off and we send you back the cocktail glass in pieces.

Caribbean Knife Fight                    9
Blade Gin, Dolin Blanc, Allspice Dram
Sometimes a man will do crazy things for the love of a woman. In this cocktail Blade gin and Dolin blanc fight for the affection of St. Elizabeth allspice Dram. Be warned, too many and you could be the one face down in the sand.

Our Finest Sour                    8
Bourbon, Apple Brandy, Fresh Lemon Juice, Grade B Maple, Egg Whites, Bitters, Cinnamon
You ask, What is our policy? I will say; “It is to create cocktails, by booze, citrus and egg white, with all our might and strength.” Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if Rickhouse lasts for a thousand years, men will still say, “This was their finest sour!”

Illuminations                    10
Reposado Tequila, Sherry Wine, Fresh lemon Juice, Grade B Maple, Egg Whites
Daniel Shoemaker’s Illuminations cocktail is a beacon, brightly lighting your path on a cold winters night, that said, the reposado tequila and East Indian sherry won’t keep you from stumbling home.

Calico Queen                    9
Rye, Mediera Wine, Cynar, Maraschino Liqueur, Bitters
A cocktail perfect for someone who has been out on the range too long, not too expensive, full bodied, and only a little bitter that you haven’t visited sooner. She will welcome you with open arms. . . but only if you have the money.

Chicago Fizz                    8
Ron Abuelo Rum, Port Wine, Fresh Lemon Juice, Turbinado Sugar, Egg Whites
David Wondrich refers to the Windy City’s contribution to the classic cocktail cannon as: “A genteel drink, obviously from the part of town where Frank Lloyd Wright built houses, not the part where roughnecks butchered pigs and put them in cans.” We couldn’t have put it better.

Clydesdale                    8
Applejack, Falernum, Allspice Dram, Fresh Lime Juice, Bitters
Weather you were dashing through the snow, or waiting on your stoop for the milk man, Clydesdale horses were trusted to deliver their cargo safely even on the worst roads. This cocktail will not disappoint you here, making sure all the rich flavors are delivered safely to their destination.
