New Booze for December 2012
January 08, 2013
Over at ShakeStir.com I write announcements of new liquor releases. Here's what went up in December.
- HopHead Vodka
- Bowmore Dorus Mor 10 Years Old Small Batch Release No. 1
- Auchentoshan Valinch 2012 Limited Edition
- Glen Garioch Limited Edition 1986 Vintage
- Nikka Whiskey
- Three Russell Henry Gins
- Woodford Reserve Spiced Cherry Bitters
- Michter's 20 Year Old Bourbon
- Qui Tequila
Read about all of them and future releases over at ShakeStir.com.
I appreciate seeing all the new releases in one spot, but "write" the announcements might be a little strong. Looks more like the press releases straight from the producers?

"post" would be the better choice of word, indeed. They are all press releases with the quotes and superlative words cut out.

i wonder how the hop head vodka is. i had a lot of trouble getting my hop spirits to stay clear. i suspected you didn't see many on the market because of strange louching problems.

They redistil it like gin. Have you been doing that?

yeah. the strange and unique thing is that what ever comes out of solution is in the heads instead of the usual tales.
but maybe they actually figured out how to separate the compound once it comes out of solution. i never did. i've learned a couple of techniques lately that may help deal with the issue but i'm too tied up with other projects to play around.
my favorite hop spirit is hitachino's kiuchi no shizuku which is available in new york but for some reason no one really touches the stuff.

I've had the Charbay Racer 5 whiskey - it's crazy and herby. Don't remember if it's cloudy.
