New Booze: Four new whiskies hit the market.
Old Forester Whiskey Row Series
Old Forester Bourbon Whisky annouces the launch of the Old Forester Whiskey Row Series in late-November. The series will allow consumers to sip Old Forester as it was enjoyed in the late 1800’s through the mid-1920’s.
The initial release of the series, 1870 Original Batch, will commemorate the year Old Forester became the first batched bourbon. Prior to its release, bourbon was sold by the barrel causing quality and taste profile to vary. Old Forester’s founder George Garvin Brown batched bourbon from three different distilleries to create a product that was consistent.
To emulate Brown’s 1870 bourbon, the 1870 Original Batch bourbon is comprised of barrels selected from three different warehouses with a different day of production as well as a different entry proof and maturation period. The expressions will be batched together to create this 90-proof product.
With a suggested retail price of $44.99 for a 750 ml at 45% ABV, 1870 Original Batch will roll out in select cities: Chicago, Denver, Louisville, Nashville, New York City, Seattle and San Francisco.
Rogue Ales & Spirits has announced the release of Oregon Rye Whiskey.
Oregon Rye Whiskey is brewed and distilled using Rogue Farms Dream Rye that is grown and malted by Rogue on its proprietary farms in Oregon.
The first harvest of Dream Rye produced just 374 cases of whiskey, which will be released to retailers nationwide in limited quantities on December 1, 2014.
Glenfiddich annouces The Original whisky, an expression inspired by the 1963 Straight Malt, the first ever single malt to be actively marketed internationally. A reproduction of the original Glenfiddich Straight Malt, this release will be available exclusively in the US, and Taiwan in 2014.
Glenfiddich The Original will be 40% ABV and available in select markets nationwide beginning November 2014 in luxury whisky retail outlets and premium establishments for a recommended retail price of $99.99 for a 750ml bottle.
