I'm just a littttttle bit late in getting out the new spirits releases for 2016, but here goes:
Glen Grant 12 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky.
Black Cow is the world’s first pure milk vodka, produced in Dorset, England from the milk of grass-fed cows. It is distilled from the whey of milk and treated to a secret blending process created by dairy farmer Jason Barber, whose inspiration came from a desire to diversify the product of his 250-head dairy herd and his personal interest in vodka.
Yaguara Branca Cachaça: This un-aged, small batch-distilled cachaça is bottled at 40.5% ABV, Yaguara Branca was developed by the master blender Erwin Weimann, one of Brazil’s leading experts in the field of Cachaça, and Jean Ponce, Yaguara´s Brazilian brand consultant. Yaguara Ouro is a blend of cachaça aged in two Brazilian native woods — Cabreúva and Amburana – as well as American oak. Bottled at 42% ABV
Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey starts as a craft beer brewed from 100% malted barley. It is then double-distilled in traditional Scottish copper pot stills and matured in full-size casks. Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey, Release 001, was made from 100% pale malted barley and matured for 30 months in full-size charred, new American Oak barrels coopered for us in Kentucky. Release 001 is 52 percent alcohol by volume (104 Proof).
Amaro Lucano Anniversario is the newest herbal liqueur from Lucano 1894, an Italian Amaro. Amaro Lucano Anniversario is enhanced with notes such as holy thistle and gentian. It has an alcohol content of 34% ABV, compared to the original Amaro Lucano recipe which has a content of 28% ABV. The recipe is made with a blend of more than 30 herbs and spices including musk yarrow, aloe, absinthe wormwood, and clary sage.
Graton Distilling Company is pleased to announce the release of its second craft spirit D. George Benham’s Vodka Vodka. Located in the west Sonoma County town of Graton. Benham, choose the name “Vodka Vodka” because he simply wanted to make a vodka that tastes like vodka, not one of the myriad of “flavors” currently approved by the TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau). In creating Vodka Vodka – grapes, organic white wheat, rye and red cracked wheat were individually distilled then blended. After distillation, Vodka Vodka was proofed down with artisanal well water and then filtered through neutral charcoal. D. George Benham’s Vodka Vodka will be distributed in California, with the Young’s Market Company Craft Spirit division.
Florida Double Cask Bourbon

St. Augustine Distillery is proud to announce the official release date of its eagerly awaited Florida Double Cask Bourbon, the first bourbon to be put into barrel in the State of Florida since Prohibition. Florida Double Cask Bourbon is a dark amber, malted bourbon distilled and bottled on-site using local ingredients. The spirits in this first bourbon release range from 16 to 28 months.
“New federal regulations require the ‘stated age’ be that of the youngest spirit in the blend,” McDaniel explained. “We aged our whiskey in a sequence of new, wine quality 25-gallon and seasoned 53-gallon barrels. To achieve our flavor profile, we hand-selected dozens and dozens of barrels to blend a unique and robust bourbon.” Bottled at46.9% ABV
The 2016 edition, the tenth in the series, features two separate versions of the Bottled-in-Bond product, expected to be the oldest Bottled-in-Bond in the world. It was produced in Fall 1990 and Spring 1991 at Heaven Hill’s distillery in Bardstown, KY, (D.S.P. KY-31), which was later destroyed in 1996 by fire along with seven rickhouses and over 90,000 barrels. The liquid is bottled by season in order to retain its Bottled-in-Bond designation. Bottled at 100 proof (50% abv) and non-chill filtered, the Bourbon will retain more of the natural esters and fatty acids that have matured in the barrel for almost a quarter of a century, providing a richer mouthfeel.
Released annually on September 2 in honor of Old Forester founder, George Garvin Brown's birthday. This year's expression marks the 15th anniversary of the first ever release. The 2016 release of 93 barrels uniquely matured together on the 5th floor of Warehouse K at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Louisville, KY. The lot was positioned near a window facing west allowing them to be sun kissed, yielding a deeper oak mouthfeel.
Four Roses Annual Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon

Four Roses will issue the newest release in its series of limited-quantity special bottlings with the 2016 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon, featuring three of the distillery’s ten unique Bourbon recipes. Four Roses is the only Bourbon distillery that combines two mashbills with five proprietary yeast strains to produce 10 distinct Bourbon recipes, each with its own unique characteristics. Master Distiller Brent Elliott selected a 12-year-old Bourbon from Four Roses’ OESO recipe, a 12-year-old OBSV and a 16-year-old OESK, for this year’s Limited Edition Small Batch. It is the first time in more than seven years that the OESO recipe has appeared in a Limited Edition Small Batch. Bottled at barrel strength with a proof of 111.2

Louisville-based Copper & Kings American Brandy Co. is launching its second aged apple brandy expression, the Floodwall, this fall. A blend of copper pot-distilled, apple brandy aged in bourbon barrels and 250-liter Oloroso sherry casks sourced in Spain, Floodwall American apple brandy has a minimum age of four-year-old brandy and is a full bodied 100-proof (50% ABV) alcohol strength. Floodwall is non-chill filtered with no post-distillation addition of apple flavor or essences, no boisé (oak flavor or infusion), sugar or caramel color for an authentic, uncorrupted natural flavor and natural color.
Redbreast has introduced a new, permanent expression to its decorated Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey family; Redbreast Lustau Edition. Finished in hand selected, first-fill sherry butts that are seasoned with Oloroso sherry from the prestigious Bodegas Lustau in Jerez, Spain. Matured initially in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks, Redbreast Lustau Edition has been wholly finished for one year in sherry butts from Bodegas Lustau in Jerez, the sherry capital of the world. Bottled at 46% ABV and without chill-filtration, Redbreast Lustau Edition is available from this month at the following RRPs; Canada, $90; France, €65; Ireland, €69; and UK, £55. It will also be available in the United States from October 1st 2016, at RRP $69.
Distilled from 100% malted barley. Portions of heavily peated malt aged in New American Oak, Sherry Casks and a variety of casks coopered in the Nikka cooperages. The terroir of the distillery introduces brininess from the ocean breeze.

HIGH COMMISSIONER BLEND: a blend selected from fine grain and mat whiskies. SRP $16
The last blend of spirits produced by what was believed to be Scotland’s oldest distillery, before it was closed due a 2004 fire. Founded in 1772. Despite the distillery closing in 1994, owners Loch Lomond have been releasing some of the now-mature stocks every year. It has been bottled at 25 years old. Aged in a combination of ten American and European oak cask, it was married together in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks. Limited to 250 bottles.
LITTLE MILL 25 YEAR OLD: an ultra-rare expression from the now silent Lowland distillery.The distillery, which used Highland water and peat from Stornoway and Perthshire, produced spirits acclaimed for their subtly floral nose and vanilla redolence. This expression is expected to quickly become sought after by serious collectors. SRP $3,000
Buffalo Trace Distillery 2016 Antique Collection
George T. Stagg
The powerhouse favorite of the Antique Collection, George T. Stagg weighs in at a hefty 144.1 proof this year. Past releases of this uncut and unfiltered bourbon won many top awards, including twice named the number one spirit in the world by F. Paul Pacult’s The Spirit Journal. This year’s release contains bourbon from barrels filled in the spring of 2001. This batch contained 142 barrels, but not as many bottles as expected, due to some very greedy angels! Storage location of these barrels varied across warehouses M, N, H, L and K. Finding a bottle this fall will be difficult due to the low yield. This whiskey tastes of dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla.
William Larue Weller
The Antique Collection’s uncut, unfiltered, wheated recipe bourbon is William Larue Weller. Previous editions of this wheater have won many accolades, including the “Bourbon of the Year” by Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2016 edition. The 2016 offering was distilled in the spring of 2003 and aged on the third and sixth floors of Warehouses D, K, and L. This bourbon registers in at 135.4 proof – one of the stronger Weller releases. The bold flavors include plum, figs and vanilla.
Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye
Thomas H. Handy is the uncut and unfiltered straight rye whiskey. The 2015 edition was named “Best American Rye Whiskey” at the 2016 World Whiskies Awards. This year’s Handy was distilled in the spring of 2010; aged on the fourth, fifth and seventh floors of Warehouses I, K, and M, and weighs in at 126.2 proof. The flavor has been described as toffee and cinnamon.
Eagle Rare 17 Year Old
The previous edition of this bourbon was honored with a Silver Outstanding Medal at the 2015 International Wine and Spirits Competition. The 2016 edition has been aging on the first, second and third floors of Warehouses H and K. This 90 proof bourbon was aged for seventeen years and tastes of leather, vanilla, tobacco and toffee.
Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old
Last year Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old was named the Best Rye Whiskey 11 Years and Older by Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2016 edition. This 2016 straight rye whiskey release has notable flavors of smoke, clove and all-spice with a dry finish. The barrels for this whiskey were filled in April of 1998, making them the first “new” batch in years not drawn from the stainless steel tank as the previous past few editions have been. From this year onward, this whiskey will be drawn directly from barrels put away for 18 years, versus using any tanked whiskey.
